Maxim Mitrofanov: If Spalletti is responsible, he’s the one who should pay the fine
Zenit general director Maxim Mitrofanov has given his comments on the words of the club’s head coach Luciano Spalletti who had said that he deliberately chose to break the selection regulations for the CSKA game due to player shortage.
The violation cost Zenit a technical defeat and a fine of 200 hundred roubles, while the Italian coach claims he was assured there will only be a monetary penalty.
Speaking about whether Spalletti should pay the amount out of his own pocket, Mitrofanov said: «In general the Disciplinary Committee may use different sanctions: they may impose the penalty either on the club, or a particular coach. If Spalletti is responsible, he should be the one to pay.
«In fact, Spalletti just wanted to win that game very much and he tried to make everything for that. He wanted to have some viable alternatives in his match squad, so he decided not include a homegrown player», said Mitrofanov to Radio Zenit as quoted by Gazeta.ru.
