Konstantin Rausch: Nobody ever offered me to play for Russia
Hannover 96 Russian-born defender Konstantin Rausch said he never had any talks concerning his possible performances in the Russian national team.
«Now I play for the German U-21 team and I only think about my performances there. Speaking about Russia – that’s my native country, but as far as football is concerned nobody has ever offered me anything or said anything about the Russian national team, so I have never thought about it. Let’s wait and see,» said Rausch as reported by Sports Daily.
«For today I am a player of Hannover 96, and all my thoughts are only with this club. We’ll have to see what happens then. But if someday, maybe in 5 or 6 years, there will be such a possibility and it will appeal to me, why not think about playing for Russia?»
Konstantin Rausch was born in the Russian village of Kozhevnikovo, Tomsk Oblast. His family emigrated to Germany in 1995, when he was five years old.
