Europa League: Lokomotiv Moscow out after defeat in Bilbao

A single goal by Athletic Bilbao’s Iker Muniain sealed his side’s progress in the Europa League, brushing aside the battling Lokomotiv.

Lokomotiv won the first leg 2-1, but went out on the away goal rule, despite their committed performance.

The home side went a man down after Amorebieta was sent off for his challenge on Shishkin, but took the lead on the 63 minute.

The ball was delivered into the Lokomotiv area after a corner kick, Loriente knocked it down to Muniain and the Spanish youngster slammed it into the net.

Lokomotiv put up a good fight, going up a gear in the last 20 minutes, but neither Glushakov’s long-range shot, nor Caicedo’s run could bring them the equaliser.

The Basque club progresses to the next round, where they will meet either Manchester United or Ajax.
