Maria Sharapova is the only woman in Forbes Top-50 highest-paid athletes list
Russian tennis player Maria Sharapova is the only woman in the Top-50 highest-paid athletes according to Forbes.
Sharapova has made it into the list for the second straight year. She ranks 29th with earnings of $24.2 million, largely from her lucrative Nike deal, which pays her royalties on her lines of tennis apparel and Cole Haan shoes.
Golf player Tiger Woods is still the highest-paid athlete in the world, having earned $75 million over the past 12 months and easily outdistancing second-ranked basketball player Kobe Bryant, who made $53 million.
The richest tennis player is ex-World No.1 Roger Federer who took 4th place with $47 million. The second among tennis players and 12th in the general list is the current World No. 1 Rafael Nadal with $31,5 million.
